Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Location: Meadowcroft School, Wakefield, WF1 4AD

Salary: GBP27,625 per annum

Hours: 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Contract: Fixed Term Contract, 6 months

As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a Maintenance Technician to join our close-knit team at Meadowcroft School located in Wakefield.

About the role

The post holder will be responsible for assisting the Facilities Manager, undertaking general maintenance, security, porterage, and cleaning services at various sites, including statutory checks such as asbestos visual checks, fire alarm weekly and periodic tests, water checks, etc.

Maintain Health and Safety paperwork and online systems in accordance with Acorn Care and Education policies and procedures and Independent School Standards.

Maintain security of the site, including opening and closing procedures, and be a key holder for emergency call outs. Liaise with alarm companies as needed.

Undertake regular checks including asbestos visual checks, fire alarm tests, water temperature tests, first aid kit checks, emergency lighting tests, fire door checks, fire exit operations, extinguisher tests, ladder checks, and equipment condition checks.

Place orders for materials as needed, and manage school vehicles, including mini bus runs and maintenance.

Essential Skills and Competencies
  • Experience and proficiency with office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Minimum of two years in an office environment
  • Excellent customer care skills
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Experience in an educational setting (desirable)
