Job summary

Randstad Construction and Property is seeking an experienced telehandler driver to provide holiday cover on a fast-paced new build housing development in Hornsea. This short-term contract offers steady hours and a key role in keeping site logistics moving safely while the permanent driver is away.

The successful candidate will operate a telescopic handler on a live site, unload deliveries, assist trades, and perform daily inspections.

Qualifications

• CPCS/NPORS Telehandler card essential.
• Solid Telehandler experience on new build housing sites.
• Full PPE and valid UK driving licence.
• Strong health & safety awareness on active sites.
• Reliable, punctual and good communication.

Responsibilities

• Safely operating a telescopic handler on a live residential site.
• Unloading deliveries and staging materials across plots.
• Assisting subcontractors and trades with lifts.
• Conducting daily pre-checks and keeping the machine clean.
• Cooperating with the Site Manager to keep plots on schedule.
• Occasionally assisting with site housekeeping to maintain safety.

About the Role

We are currently recruiting an experienced telehandler driver to provide holiday cover on a fast-paced new build housing development in Hornsea.

This is an ideal short-term contract for a reliable operator looking to pick up steady hours. You will be essential in keeping site logistics moving safely and efficiently, ensuring materials are right where trades need them while the permanent driver is away.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operating a telescopic handler across a live residential housing site.
• Unloading delivery vehicles and staging materials (bricks, blocks, timber, roof trusses) across active plots.
• Assisting sub-contractors and site trades with scheduled material lifts.
• Conducting daily plant inspections, logging pre-checks, and keeping the machine clean and secure.
• Working closely with the Site Manager to maintain daily plot schedules.
• Stepping off the machine during quieter periods to assist with general site housekeeping, ensuring a safe, organised working environment.

Requirements

• Valid CPCS or NPORS Card with Telescopic Handler category (Essential).
• Solid experience operating a Telehandler on new build housing sites.
• Full PPE (Hard hat, high-vis jacket/vest, steel toe cap boots).
• Valid UK Driving Licence.
• Strong awareness of site health and safety, particularly regarding pedestrian segregation around live plots.
• Excellent communication, reliability, and punctuality.
• Based in or easily commutable to Hornsea.
