Job summary

Randstad Construction and Property is recruiting a telehandler driver to cover holidays on a busy new build housing site in Hamilton. The role focuses on safe operation, material handling, and supporting site trades while the permanent driver is away.

You will manage daily pre-checks, collaborate with the Site Manager, and help keep the site organized and safe. A valid CPCS/NPORS Telescopic Handler card and UK driving licence are essential.

Qualifications

• Valid CPCS or NPORS card with Telescopic Handler category is essential.
• Extensive experience operating a Telehandler on new build housing sites.
• Full PPE including hard hat, high-vis clothing and steel toe caps.
• Valid UK driving licence is required.
• Strong awareness of site health and safety, especially around pedestrians.

Responsibilities

• Operate telescopic handler safely across a busy housing site.
• Unload deliveries and distribute materials to plots.
• Assist subcontractors and trades with material lifts as needed.
• Carry out daily plant pre-checks and maintenance logs; keep machine clean.
• Coordinate with Site Manager to maintain smooth daily site operations.
• Support general site tasks or step off machine to keep site organized and safe.

About the Role

We are currently recruiting an experienced telehandler driver to provide holiday cover on a busy new build housing development in Hamilton. This is a great short-term contract role for a skilled operator looking to pick up extra hours, keep busy, and work alongside an established housebuilder. You will be responsible for operating the machine safely and efficiently to keep the site moving while the permanent driver is away.

Key Responsibilities

• Operating a telescopic handler safely and efficiently across a busy housing site.


• Unloading delivery vehicles and distributing materials (bricks, blocks, roof trusses, timber) to various plots.


• Assisting sub-contractors and trades with necessary material lifts.


• Carrying out daily plant pre-checks, maintenance logs, and ensuring the machine is kept clean and secure.


• Working closely with the Site Manager to ensure smooth daily site operations.


• Assisting with general site work or stepping off the machine when required to keep the site organised and safe.

Role Requirements

• Valid CPCS or NPORS Card with Telescopic Handler category (Essential).


• Extensive experience operating a Telehandler on new build housing sites.


• Full PPE (Hard hat, high-vis jacket/vest, and steel toe cap boots).


• Valid UK Driving Licence.


• Excellent awareness of site health and safety procedures, especially around pedestrian safety on housing plots.


• Strong communication skills, punctuality, and a proactive work ethic.


• Based in or easily commutable to Hamilton.


• Full UK driving licence.
