Salary range: £34,600 - £38,000

A telecoms engineer plays a crucial role in maintaining and improving telecommunications systems and networks. Running new cable feeds internally within walls and fixing data cables. Patching cables to server end, liaising and collaborating with Networks team ensuring the switch port is live. Testing data ports around the hospital and working with the Networks team to ensure they are configured correctly. Conducting desk moves around the business as well as providing hands on 2nd line support.

How y ou’ll help us make health happen :

  • Ability to produce, update and interpret records of daily work logs, data recordings and network design maps.

  • Adhere to all Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental policies.

  • To maintain the gold standard of Customer service for all support queries and always adhere to all service management principles.

  • Installation of network cables around the hospital, testing ports and tracing back to switches

  • Liaising directly with the networks team, being the feet on the ground troubleshooting network connectivity with Wi-Fi & Data Ports.

  • To take ownership of user problems and be proactive when dealing with user issues.

  • Respond to enquiries from Customers and help them resolve any hardware or software problems that are within supported scope.

  • To allocate more complex service issues to the escalations team.

  • Rebuilding laptops and desktops as necessary with our gold build.

  • Visit staff around the hospital providing a deskside support service.

  • Being responsible for all IT Assets.

  • Conducting physical desk moves and IT equipment around the hospital.

  • When working on tickets ensuring SLA’s are being adhered.

  • Being organised with priority of tickets.

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

  • Experience working as a Telecoms Engineer.

  • Demonstrable experience with the Microsoft stack including end user OS and M365 suite.

  • Extensive Networking experience.

  • Experience running and installing network cables

  • Working closely with the Networks team troubleshooting connectivity issues with Wi-Fi & Data Ports

  • Experience working with remote access applications, preferably Citrix.

  • Knowledge & Experience of Telephony.

  • Hands-on hardware trouble shooting experience.

  • Deskside visits within the business.

  • Physically lifting IT Equipment in the office or around the business.

  • Experience working with end point security tooling.

  • Experience with print devices and managed print services.

  • Experience with end point management systems.

  • Experience with Mobile Devices, iOS/ Android.
