EAL Teaching Assistant – North Manchester – ASAP start

Prospero Teaching is looking to recruit a full-time EAL Teaching Assistant to start working at a popular secondary school in North Manchester. The role will start as soon as possible and continue until July 2025, with the potential for the role to become permanent. All applicants must hold a TEFL or TESOL qualification and have recent experience working with young people whose first language is not English.

In this role, you will ensure that all young people whose first language is not English receive the highest levels of support to enable them to flourish across the curriculum. You will make a positive impact on students with additional needs who require extra support and extended services to overcome barriers to learning. You will join a team committed to improving outcomes for all pupils. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential, and you must be able to commit to the role fully.

The school has been recently inspected by Ofsted and maintains a good rating, which it has held for many years. The school invests heavily in intervention and support services. The students have warm relationships with staff and view the school as a safe and nurturing environment. The leadership team is forward-thinking regarding behaviour management and responds quickly to issues.

Experience, Training, and Qualifications:
  • Recent school experience or evidence of working with children
  • Experience of helping EAL students
  • GCSE English and Maths grade C or 4 & above
  • TEFL or TESOL qualification
  • Up-to-date Safeguarding training issued in the last year (training can be provided)
  • Up-to-date Prevent awareness & FGM training issued in the last 3 years (training can be provided)
  • Up-to-date behaviour management training (training can be provided)
Eligibility requirements:
  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide a minimum of two references covering the last 2 years
