Job summary

Altrad UK, Ireland & Nordics is seeking an experienced Welder A Advanced to join our Mtce Works team. The role operates 38 hours per week (Mon-Fri) with overtime as required, and mobilises ASAP. Pay is inline with NAECI at £20.91 p/h, with lodge and travel paid where applicable.

You will weld safety-critical components, read drawings, prepare materials, and ensure safety and quality standards are met. A recognised welding apprenticeship and related qualifications are required.

Qualifications

  • Completed a recognised Welding Apprenticeship or equivalent vocational qualification.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Welding or equivalent certification.
  • Current welding qualifications to ISO 9606/ASME IX or equivalent standards.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out welding activities on safety-critical components and high-integrity pipework.
  • Read engineering drawings, welding procedures and isometrics to determine work requirements.
  • Prepare materials, consumables and equipment ensuring safety requirements are met.
  • Assemble and set up welding equipment using approved procedures and safe practices.
  • Perform TIG, MMA and FCAW welding on various materials and pipework systems.
  • Weld large bore and small bore pipework to required quality and standards.
  • Inspect weld preparations and finished joints using approved methods.
  • Identify defects and take corrective actions; support inspection of weld joints by others.
  • Complete quality documentation and support final testing activities.
  • Maintain safety, quality and workmanship standards at all times.

Altrad are currently looking for experienced Welders to join the team for Mtce Works.

This role will involve working 38 Hours ( Monday - Friday) OT As and When required

Mobilisation Start Date ASAP

The position is paid Inline with NAECI agreement ( National Guaranteed Rates) - £20.91 p/h, with lodge and travel paid where applicable.

Key Deliverables
  • Carry out welding activities on safety-critical components and high-integrity pipework in accordance with approved welding procedures and specifications.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, welding procedures, isometric drawings and contract specifications to determine work requirements.
  • Prepare materials, welding consumables and equipment prior to commencing welding activities, ensuring all safety requirements are met.
  • Assemble and set up welding equipment using approved procedures and safe working practices.
  • Perform TIG, MMA and FCAW welding processes on a variety of materials and pipework systems.
  • Weld large bore and small bore pipework to the required quality, dimensional and technical standards.
  • Inspect weld preparations and completed weld joints using approved inspection methods.
  • Identify welding defects, variations and non-conformances and take corrective action where required.
  • Support the inspection of weld joints produced by pipefitters and other fabrication personnel.
  • Complete quality documentation and support final visual and volumetric testing activities.
  • Work in accordance with permits to work, risk assessments, method statements, POWRA requirements and site safety procedures.
  • Store and manage welding consumables, equipment and materials in accordance with company procedures.
  • Reinstate equipment and work areas to a safe condition following completion of welding activities.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and reporting issues, defects and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide guidance and support to Welding Trainees where required.
  • Maintain the highest standards of safety, quality and workmanship at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, chargehands, engineers, clients, subcontractors and regulatory representatives.
Key Requirements / Qualifications
  • General secondary education or equivalent.
  • Completed a recognised Welding Apprenticeship or equivalent vocational qualification.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Welding, ACE Card or equivalent industry-recognised certification.
  • Current welding qualifications to ISO 9606, ASME IX or equivalent standards relevant to the project requirements.
  • Valid CCNSG Safety Passport or equivalent site-required safety certification.
  • IOSH Managing Safely certification is desirable.
  • Minimum two years' experience as a production welder within an industrial environment.
  • Demonstrable experience welding high-integrity pipework and safety-critical components.
  • Proficient in TIG, MMA and FCAW welding processes.
  • Experience welding large bore and small bore pipework across a range of materials.
  • Experience within the oil & gas, petrochemical, thermal power generation or nuclear sectors is desirable.
  • Understanding of human performance principles and safe working practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret welding specifications, engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Critical task training and site-specific authorisations as required by the project.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
