Job Description:

We are excited to be building a small, efficient TechOps team at Octopus. We are looking for an ambitious, knowledgeable, and experienced Network Specialist to join our team, grow with the company, and ensure secure and safe network operations. Your responsibilities will include maintaining and optimizing our Meraki networking infrastructure, ensuring smooth and secure network systems, and improving our global offices' employee experience.

As a key partner in defining TechOps at Octopus, you will help shape a modern, lean version of a traditional enterprise IT team, covering everything from support to strategic planning. We adopt a cloud-first approach, focusing on scalable solutions without on-premises Active Directory.

What you'll do

1. Design, procure, and install new networks for office fit-outs, including firewalls, switches, and WiFi.
2. Collaborate with office management and project teams to understand network requirements.
3. Travel within the UK and Europe for on-site testing and commissioning.
4. Manage and monitor networks, performing WiFi surveys for optimal performance.
5. Maintain on-premise network connections to AWS cloud and Zscaler infrastructure.
6. Create and update network documentation.
7. Stay informed about networking technology developments.
8. Identify opportunities to improve existing networks for reliability and performance.

What you'll need

1. Proven experience managing Meraki infrastructure, including switches, firewalls, and access points.
2. Physical aptitude for network installation and cabling work.
3. Deep understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs, VRRP).
4. Experience diagnosing complex network issues using tools like WireShark.
5. Monitoring skills for network and WiFi performance.
6. Knowledge of network design, implementation, and installation processes.
7. Ability to work with suppliers and handle procurement negotiations.
8. Understanding of zero-trust principles and SASE products like Zscaler.
9. Experience with AWS networking concepts.
10. Full UK driving license for travel to offices.
11. Willingness to be on-call for network incidents.

This role is primarily office-based with hybrid options, requiring travel to UK offices (Brighton, Manchester, Leicester, Coventry, London) and potentially to Europe as we expand. If you're excited about this opportunity, we encourage you to apply!
