We are looking to appoint adedicated and enthusiastic Technology Teacher with a specialism in Food to joinour successful Technology Department. Food and Hospitality and Catering arepopular and successful subjects at Shevington High School, with Hospitality andCatering being one of the highest-performing subjects in the school last year.We are looking for someone who shares our ambition to build on this success andprovide an excellent experience for our students.
As Food and Hospitality andCatering continue to grow in popularity, there is also the opportunity for asuitable candidate to take on additional responsibility for leading anddeveloping this subject area, working alongside the Curriculum Leader forTechnology. A TLR may be available for a candidate who demonstrates theexperience, skills and ambition to take Food and Hospitality and Catering intothe next stage of its development.
The Technology Departmentcurrently delivers the Technical Award in Hospitality and Catering and a Technologyand Food rotation at KS3.There are 2 other specialists in the team who deliver GCSEDesign and Technology and GCSE 3D Design. The successful candidate will havestrong subject knowledge and experience of teaching Food at KS3, together withthe knowledge and skills required to deliver Hospitality and Cateringeffectively at KS4. Our curriculum is well established and comprehensivelyresourced, with detailed schemes of work, lesson materials and knowledgeorganisers in place. We are looking for a teacher who will make effective useof these resources while bringing their own expertise to the classroom andcontinuing to develop their practice through collaboration with colleagues.
This is an exciting time tojoin Shevington High School. The Technology Department is very well resourced,with our practical Food teaching space refurbished last year. The departmentalso has access to its own computer room, while all students have their owndevice to support research, independent learning and coursework-based tasks. Afull-time Food Technician provides dedicated support with resourcing, orderingand the preparation of lessons, as well as supporting practical sessions. Thedepartment also plays an active role in our primary transition programme,providing opportunities for younger pupils to experience Food and Technologybefore joining the school.
The successful candidate will playan important role in developing our students’ knowledge, skills and enthusiasmfor Food and Hospitality and Catering. Alongside delivering high-qualityclassroom and practical teaching, we want someone who will look foropportunities to enrich students’ experiences through trips, extracurricularactivities and wider opportunities that bring the subject to life.
