About the role
This is a technical governance role and requires a strong understanding of business governance and the framework requirements associated with its management, backed by a sound record of practical experience. The scope of the role covers all the allocated functional area of The Very Group (including, where applicable, outsourced locations, both on and offshore).
- Maintenance of 1st Line Governance Framework; be responsible for the delivery of first line governance partnering and arrangements across the allocated functional area in Tech and Tribes; providing governance support and advice for function SMT and Tribe leads.
- Provides governance within team with focus areas of over-utilisation of consumption, license costs, and management and mitigation of risk related costs.
- Accountable for ensuring appropriate first, second- and third-line involvement in functional programmes, projects, and other Business and Technology change activities.
- Accountable for Work with the Tribes to ensure records are maintained within the Technology specified system, making sure that these remain up to date and reflect business and align to technology and business standards.
- Accountable for the analysis of risk & Governance data and produce Technology focused risk MI/reports to raise awareness within the business on risk matters and performance against risk objectives.
- Accountable to work with numerous stakeholders across the business to report on KRI & OKR, Governance and Monitoring & Control reports for decision making.
- Working with the wider team in providing first line assurance and oversight necessary to support the relevant TLT and SMT members in the delivery of their own accountabilities.
- Accountable for building collaborative engagement with Second-Line Business Risk Partners.
- Accountable for managing business continuity co-ordination for the function.
- Accountable for ensuring that functional Control Frameworks operate effectively.
- Accountable for the maintenance of Business Standards owned by the relevant Technology Functions
- Provide secretarial support for functional CARM meetings, as and when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Build relationships with Tech Leadership members, Certified role holders and wider Technology teams to enable effective first line governance and partnering across the function.
- Maintain and manage governance activity across the allocated function and create an environment and processes that enable the governance partner to operate effectively.
- Develop and maintain specialist knowledge of relevant Technology and Data business areas and processes.
- Accountable for maintaining the functional governance programme, ensuring that it remains consistent with the aggregate plan
- Accountable for identifying uncertainties that could impact TVG and put plans in place to mitigate those risk with focus areas associated with technical risks
- Accountable for the management of the Governance framework across the allocated function ensuring all first line escalation routes in to required tiered committees is clearly defined and operating effectively.
- Ensure implementation of agreed control frameworks.
- Accountable for reporting on first line KPI performance.
- Responsible for supporting the CARM Chair in the smooth running of preparation, meetings, and outputs and all associated risk forums
- Provide governance coaching and development for functional risk and control owners
- Support risk owners in determining the risk impact of identified issues.
- Accountable for building engagement with first- and second-line risk and control owners.
About you
We are looking for skills and competencies in:
- Third party engagement and governance
- Principles of Business Continuity Management
- The ability to simplify complex ideas and processes and communicate appropriately
- The ability to influence and lead through problem solving and analytics
- Policy, standard and process review
- Policy, standard and process development/delivery
- Relationship management (at senior levels)
- Superb organisational skills and attention to detail, whilst working under pressure/to deadlines
- Jira/Confluence & Microsoft tooling
In-depth knowledge of:
- Corporate governance requirements and associated strategies
- Risk and control evaluation methodologies
- Risk and control self-assessment techniques
Good knowledge of:
- Technology service management, infrastructure, information security and tech operations
- Individual functional business strategies and objectives
- Group policies, standards and procedures
- Relevant UK and European regulations (e.g., FCA, ICO etc.)
