Are you ready to make your mark on a growing technology procurement function? Saga is creating this role to lead technology sourcing, supplier and contract activity across an estate of approximately £40m spend and more than 200 suppliers.

Reporting to the Head of Technology Partnerships and Procurement, you’ll join Saga Group’s first dedicated procurement workstream, embedded within the Group Technology function. This is a visible role where your commercial judgement will help improve value, reduce supplier and renewal risk, and shape stronger procurement governance.

You’ll work across a varied portfolio spanning cloud, cyber, managed services, end-user compute, software licensing and specialist technology suppliers. From strategic partners such as Microsoft and Adobe to smaller business-critical providers, you’ll have the scope to influence sourcing and supplier decisions across the full estate.

This is an opportunity to do more than negotiate price. You’ll uncover value through better spend visibility, supplier consolidation, demand aggregation and contracts, licences and service models that reflect what the business genuinely needs.

Our flexible hybrid model combines home working with meaningful collaboration in London and Folkestone, typically 1–4 days per month.

Main Responsibilities

You’ll take ownership of sourcing and supplier activity while helping Technology colleagues make confident, timely commercial decisions.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Lead end-to-end technology sourcing activity, including market analysis, RFPs, supplier engagement, tender evaluation and source-to-contract activity.
• Turn spend, consumption and licensing data into practical opportunities to optimise tail spend, renewals and supplier fragmentation.
• Develop and deliver commercial proposals covering consolidation, aggregation, rightsizing and improved deal structures.
• Manage supplier performance and commercial risk through service reviews, SLA tracking and improvement plans.
• Review commercial and contractual positions, identify risk, and involve Legal, Risk or senior stakeholders at the right time.
• Stay ahead of contract milestones, renewal windows and termination dates to create better commercial outcomes.
• Partner with Technology and business stakeholders early, shaping sourcing, renewal and supplier decisions before they are locked in.
• Maintain clear supplier, contract and renewal records, while building confidence in procurement through practical advice and visible value.

The Ideal Candidate

You don’t need to have done every element of the role already. We’re looking for strong technology procurement foundations, sound commercial judgement and the confidence to take increasing ownership.

• Hands-on experience in technology procurement, sourcing or category activity, with a practical understanding of the source-to-contract process.
• Experience owning technology sourcing projects, renewals, RFPs or re-tenders — or clear readiness to step up from a supporting role.
• A track record of identifying value across existing supplier arrangements and lower-value or tail spend, not only major category deals.
• The commercial insight to look beyond unit price and improve total cost through demand management, usage optimisation, rightsizing, consolidation or aggregation.
• Confidence working with stakeholders across Technology, Procurement, Legal, Risk or Compliance in a governed, fast-moving environment.
• Clear communication, curiosity and the ability to turn commercial analysis into practical recommendations and measurable outcomes.
