Job summary

Sheridans’ Technology & Digital Regulation team is seeking an Associate with 2 to 4 years’ post-qualification experience who enjoys a broad remit in data protection, digital regulation and commercial matters, including GDPR, the Digital Services Act, Online Safety Act and EU AI Act. The role preference is London, with Berlin-based options for suitably qualified candidates.

About The Team

The Technology & Digital Regulation team at Sheridans currently comprises 5 partners, 4 associates and 1 paralegal, supported by 4 personal assistants, and sits within Sheridans' wider cross-practice technology group.

About The Team

The Technology & Digital Regulation team at Sheridans currently comprises 5 partners, 4 associates and 1 paralegal, supported by 4 personal assistants, and sits within Sheridans' wider cross-practice technology group. Data is a valuable and important asset, but it is often mismanaged. Sheridans’ Technology & Digital Regulation team works with clients to protect and exploit these assets, creating and protecting revenue streams and helping brands maximise growth. The majority of the team are based in London, but one partner is currently based in Berlin, Germany, and has been instrumental in developing Sheridans' related German office, which has opened in recent years. More broadly, the team has specialist expertise within IT and technology law, covering:

• Software & Digital Services: Comprehensive advice on software licensing, SaaS, development, hosting, and maintenance.
• Data Protection & Cyber Risk: Specialisation in data protection law, ePrivacy, data strategy, and managing cyber risks.
• Digital Regulation: Focus on a range of digital regulations, including the Digital Services Act, Online Safety Act and EU AI Act, covering online safety, platform regulation, content moderation and AI-related risk, particularly in the context of new product development.
• Emerging Technologies: In-depth knowledge of new technology, processes and innovative data solutions.
• Industry Focus: Tailored support for media, technology, advertising, and creative industries.
• Commercial: Guidance on all aspects of commercial law for both mature companies and start-ups.

Their combined skills ensure clients receive expert advice on navigating the complexities of modern technology and data-driven environments. The team also provides commercial contract advice within the technology sector.

About The Opportunity

We are seeking an Associate with 2 to 4 years' post-qualification experience, who has an interest in and experience of a broad range of data protection, digital regulatory and commercial matters, including compliance with the GDPR, Digital Services Act, Online Safety Act and EU AI Act. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop and grow within an established and specialised team. Whilst there is a preference for the role to be based in London, we will also consider suitably qualified candidates looking to work from our Berlin offices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from a well-regarded university
• For London based candidates - qualified as a Solicitor in England and Wales or before the New York or California bar (USA)
• For German based candidates – qualified as a lawyer in Germany or another European jurisdiction or before the New York or California bar (USA)
