The Role

We are looking for a highly motivated apprentice who is interested in working in Financial Services and wishes to pursue a career in Technology.

You will be part of Corporate Functions Technology (CFT), which looks across many areas of technology and contributes to the day-to-day running of the company. This includes:

  1. Corporate Functions Technology (managing and implementing Technology solutions for Finance, HR, Risk)
  2. The Chief Data Office - specialising in Data Governance, Data Management & Data Strategy for M&G.
  3. Service Management
  4. Support

The successful applicant will join the Business Operations Team, who are responsible for the day-to-day running of the Corporate Functions Tech Team. We manage the CFT Financials, ensuring that we are on top of forecasting and budgeting, managing software and licence renewals, business case impacts to our cost base as well as monthly activities around invoicing & approvals. We also manage workforce planning, interlocking delivery to understand what our people are working on, and co-ordinate recruitment for hiring and demand. Finally, we look after the people and comms strategy for the team, ensuring that everyone remains engaged and motivated and that everyone has the right skills to do their jobs by planning team events, training, and offsite activities.

What will you be doing?

As the Business Operations Apprentice, your daily duties will include:

  1. Supporting the development of resource planning models.
  2. Co-ordinating contractor extensions and new hiring requests.
  3. Updating and maintaining commercial tracking for our software contracts.
  4. Advising our wider team on how to navigate the CFT project delivery governance framework.
  5. Contributing to our people strategy by writing newsletters and articles & being a member of our people working group.
  6. Ad-hoc projects to support the Corporate Functions Technology Leadership Team (such as building reporting dashboards, building presentations, gathering project requirements).
  7. Attending meetings and supporting implementation of projects.

What will I need to be successful in this role?

  • Strong customer service awareness.
  • Empathy and good listening skills.
  • Efficient, proactive, structured approach to work and very well organized.
  • High level of accuracy and good attention to detail.
  • Can effectively manage day-to-day work, alongside apprenticeship qualification.
  • Moderate understanding of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • A proactive team player who is confident about working with others but also independently and can promptly escalate any issue and work remotely where required.
  • Logical and analytical approach coupled with intelligence, passion, and a drive to learn.

Minimum Requirements
  • Available to start the apprenticeship programme in September 2025.
  • You must not be enrolled in another further education programme at the beginning of the programme.
  • Be a UK citizen or have proof of your right to work in the UK.
  • Living in Scotland.
  • Pass in Five National 5s including English and Maths.
  • Minimum of Grade C in Two Highers or equivalent.

Training Provided

As a Technology Business Support Apprentice with M&G, you will undertake the Business Administration SCQF Level 6 Apprenticeship. The apprenticeship will be delivered through a blend of live online learning, pre-recorded lectures, and face-to-face inductions and masterclasses.

Future Prospects

This is a fixed-term contract for 18 - 23 months upon which the business may decide to retain, subject to the Apprentice performance, headcount, and available funding. If recruited into a permanent role, the individual will follow the career progression applicable to the specific role/department.

Salary

£22,900 per annum plus benefits.
