About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Architectural Technician or Senior Architectural Technician with a minimum of five years’ relevant industry experience to join our Edinburgh-based practice.
The successful candidate will have excellent technical knowledge, strong construction detailing skills and a proven ability to produce coordinated information for residential projects. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, applies a rigorous approach to technical delivery and contributes positively to a collaborative studio environment.
Appointment at senior level will reflect your experience and ability to lead technical packages, manage consultant coordination and support colleagues.
Key Responsibilities

- Prepare building warrant, tender and construction drawings, specifications and schedules.
- Resolve construction details, material interfaces and buildability requirements while maintaining the architectural intent.
- Coordinate architectural information with structural engineers, building services consultants and specialist suppliers.
- Apply a thorough understanding of Scottish Building Standards, construction technology and relevant technical standards.
- Support building warrant submissions and respond to verifier comments.
- Assist with technical queries during construction and attend site visits as required.
- Manage drawing revisions, project information and agreed deadlines.
- For senior appointments, lead technical delivery, review information and provide guidance to less experienced colleagues.
About You
- A relevant qualification in architectural technology or a related construction discipline, supported by at least five years’ relevant experience.
- Strong technical knowledge and a detailed understanding of residential construction.
- Experience delivering housing projects, ideally bespoke or high-end residential developments.
- The ability to prepare accurate, coordinated technical drawings, specifications and construction details.
- A sound working knowledge of Scottish Building Standards and the building warrant process.
- Proficiency in architectural drawing and documentation software; Revit experience would be particularly advantageous.
- Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with the wider project team.
- A practical, proactive approach and a commitment to quality and professional development. For the Senior Architectural Technician position, demonstrable experience managing technical packages and consultant coordination is expected.
What We Offer

- 28 days’ annual leave, inclusive of bank holidays.
- Employer pension contribution top-up.
- Professional membership fees paid by the practice.
- CPD support and opportunities for ongoing professional development.
