Technician - Rolling Stock

Contract Duration: 12 months

Location: North London

Pay Rate:

Umbrella - £24.56 per hour for the first 4 weeks (15% shift), increasing to £27.77 per hour after 4 weeks (30% shift), then finally increasing to £29.27 (30% shift) per hour after 12 weeks in line with AWR.

PAYE - £19.72 per hour for the first 4 weeks (15% shift), increasing to £22.30 after 4 weeks (30% shift).

Shift pattern: Days initially (4 weeks) then a combination of Days and Lates, Nights TBC.

Description:

1. Undertake overhaul, modifications, and repair of wheelsets/bogies components with minimal supervision, following the necessary processes and procedures.
2. Assist team members with bogie overhaul/wheelset overhaul to develop technical skills.
3. Identify, order, and collect spares and materials from stores. Assist with cleaning of rolling stock when required.
4. This role involves working on the Thames Link Project.

Principal Accountabilities

1. Perform mechanical repairs as part of the Engineering team.
2. Support the completion of repairs, modifications, and overhauls within a well-equipped rolling stock depot.

Knowledge & Experience

1. Experience in a mechanical/electrical engineering or process environment.
2. Basic fault-finding experience.
3. Accurately complete records of actions and operations following procedures.
4. Care for tools, equipment, and PPE.
5. Knowledge of Health & Safety, including biohazards, manual handling, and COSHH.
6. Proficiency in computer use.
7. Ability to interpret technical publications.
8. Ability to produce detailed, complex, analytical technical reports.
