Cambridge Regional College have an exciting opportunity for a Creative Industries Media Technician to join our thriving Creative Industries department at our Cambridge Campus.
This is a full-time (37 hours), full year role with a competitive salary of
£24,107 – £25,983 per annum, plus staff benefits.
As a Media Technician, you will play a vital role at the heart of our Creative Digital courses, supporting Film, Animation, Games Design, Radio, Esports and Content Creation. You will maintain our professional studios and specialist equipment, provide hands-on support in practical sessions, and help deliver live events and public showcases that inspire and engage.

About the role:
Where – Cambridge Campus
Available facilities - You’ll work across a dynamic, industry-aligned environment including:
• Media studios for film, photography, and green screen
• Radio and podcast broadcast spaces
• Esports and streaming suites
• Digital editing labs (Mac and PC)
• Games and animation teaching areas
• Specialist media production equipment
Responsibilities
• Provide hands-on technical support to students and staff during practical sessions
• Demonstrate equipment and processes, supporting the development of industry-ready skills
• Prepare and maintain studios, editing spaces, and specialist resources ahead of lessons and events
• Manage equipment loans, stock levels, and booking systems
• Undertake first-line maintenance and repairs, and coordinate external servicing where required
• Carry out risk assessments and ensure full compliance with Health & Safety and COSHH procedures
• Support the planning and technical delivery of public events, showcases, and exhibitions
• Promote sustainable practices in resource use, repair, and recycling
• Engage with emerging media technologies and contribute to innovation in the curriculum
• Provide occasional cover for evening or weekend events and sessions
• Travel between sites and external venues when required, transporting equipment as necessary
What we are looking for in our role:
Experience
• Previous experience in a technical support role within a media or creative environment
• Confidence working with a wide range of creative equipment and production processes
• Experience supporting live events, exhibitions, or public showcases
• Practical understanding of Health & Safety in a technical or studio-based setting
• Desirable: Experience in supporting learners or working within an educational setting
Skills and Abilities
• Good organisational skills with the ability to manage resources, bookings, and maintenance schedules
• Confident in setting up, troubleshooting, and maintaining creative production equipment
• Able to lift and move equipment safely (with appropriate training)
• Strong interpersonal skills to support staff, students, and visitors
• Awareness of emerging trends in creative media, including sustainability and inclusive practice
• Willingness to engage with new technologies and upskill where necessary
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites or to off-site events
Qualifications
• GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent)
• A minimum Level 3 qualification in a Media, Creative, or Technical subject
• Willingness to undertake further relevant training (e.g., teaching support, Health & Safety, safeguarding)
• Desirable: Degree-level qualification or equivalent professional experience in the creative industries
