Job summary

Otis Elevator Co. is seeking an NVQ Level 4 qualified Tester/Technician to join the Major Projects New Equipment Installation Team.

You will ensure new lift, escalator and travelator installations are fully tested and compliant, providing technical support to Field Test Engineers and training new engineers on adjustments and commissioning. You will personally test and commission complex multi-unit sites, audit EN81 paperwork, liaise with clients, and help with bids on special technical

Qualifications

• Experience of Lift and/or Escalator Industry Testing with Qualifications to NVQ4 equivalent.
• Knowledge of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering principles (EN81 Part 2).
• IT literate with MS Excel and MS Outlook abilities.

Responsibilities

• Personally testing and commissioning complex multi-unit sites with interfaces like Compass and EMS.
• Lead and manage test engineers on multi-unit sites to ensure safe and efficient testing.
• Audit test and EN81 handover paperwork for compliance.
• Undertake client liaison during testing of large multi-unit sites and assist with bids.
• Provide on-site technical support and training to other field engineers.

Job description

Otis are currently seeking an NVQ Level 4 qualified Tester / Technician to join the Major Projects New Equipment Installation Team in order to ensure that all new lift, escalator and travelator installations within our construction portfolio are fully tested and compliant / fit for use, providing technical support to other Field Test Engineers across the business and training new Field Test Engineers and Installation Engineers in adjusting/commissioning units.

• Personally testing and commissioning complex multi-unit sites with highly technical interfaces such as Compass and Elevator Management System (EMS).
• This includes high speed gearless units and escalators / travellators, managing other test engineers on multi-unit sites to ensure safe and efficient testing and commissioning.
• Providing technical support on site to other test engineers with a view to up-skilling all test engineers, auditing test and EN81 (compliance) handover paperwork.
• Undertaking client liaison during the testing of large multi-unit sites and attend commissioning meetings as and when required, assisting with new bids when there are special technical requirements.
• Undertaking quality readings on completion of a project, providing a seamless handover from New Equipment to Service and supporting service on technical issues on site during the Quality Operating Period and on an ad-hoc basis.

• Experience of Lift and / or Escalator Industry Testing with Qualifications to NVQ4 equivalent.
• You will possess good knowledge of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering principles such as Relevant Lift Codes i.e. EN81 Part 2 etc.
• You will also be IT Literate with MS Excel and MS Outlook abilities.
