This is an exciting opportunity to work at our Suffolk Rural campus as a Technician in Horticulture. You will be required to provide technical advice, support, and practical assistance to staff and students. You will be responsible for preparing and maintaining equipment and materials within the practical workspaces, alongside ensuring safe working practices.
This role will support the development of a commercial provision onsite to serve the local community. You will work closely with the Horticulture Centre Manager to build a local customer base, gather marketing information, develop a commercial growing plan, and maintain the facilities on site.
You should have a Level 2 qualification in a relevant subject, e.g., RHS qualification, and a good understanding of health & safety. Relevant industry expertise, including knowledge and experience of plant science, plant propagation techniques, budding and grafting, and a good understanding of horticulture machinery such as hedge cutters, lawnmowers, and strimmers, is essential.
This post is based at Suffolk New College Suffolk Rural. As Suffolk New College is a multi-campus site, you may be required to work at and travel between campuses.
