This is an exciting opportunity to work at Suffolk New College as a Technician within the Carpentry & Joinery field. You will be required to provide a range of technical advice, support, and practical assistance to our staff and students. You will be responsible for preparing, maintaining the equipment and materials within the practical workspaces, alongside ensuring safe working practices.
As part of your role, you will contribute to the wider College health and safety activity. Therefore, you should have a good understanding of health and safety and be prepared to undertake training in areas such as first aid and fire marshalling.
You will need to have an organized and methodical approach to ensure the smooth operation of the workspaces to support the delivery of an exceptional student experience. You should be able to communicate and engage with a range of audiences, including young people, and work well both in a team and on your own initiative.
You should have a good standard of education, including Maths and English at level 2 (GCSE 4/C), and a Level 2 qualification in a relevant subject. The role involves working in the Carpentry & Joinery area, so a specialism in Carpentry & Joinery and supporting practical skills is required.
