Job description

Wind Turbine Technician II

Required Responsibilities
  • Act as a safety partner by intervening when unsafe acts are practiced. Promote and demonstrate safe behavior and practices. Assist Site and QSE management in determining RCAs and corrective actions for investigations.
  • Complete all safety training assigned. Act as a resource for junior technicians when questions arise.
  • Utilize all PPE as required by Work Instructions and QSE Manual. Provide input regarding any discrepancies found in Work Instructions or PPE sheets.
  • Support continuous improvement activities, including development of best practices.
  • Build and maintain effective internal partnerships. Refer complex issues or customer inquiries to higher-level technical staff or management, demonstrating good customer focus and improving satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Fully navigate and input all required data through MyTime, MyTask, and different cost allocations (e.g., SO's).
  • Access and use online tools (e.g., Toolkit, SAP, VOB, VGA, VIS, VTM).
  • Understand and be aware of how dashboards impact the site (alarms, warnings, fleet, service orders, labor efficiency, new site startup, TNT, FIFT, other Insight dashboard metrics).
  • Use Insite Toolbox effectively.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and mentorship.
  • Follow Work Instructions and propose adjustments or improvements as needed (e.g., PTP).
  • Manage TSL and CIR entry and follow-up.
  • Support specialty jobs (e.g., crane work, CIM projects).
  • Take responsibility to utilize tools for growth and learning, with team support.
  • Promote a positive team environment across departments. Assist teammates in operational objectives and mentor lower-level staff.
Qualifications Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum two years of technical wind industry experience OR in absence of that, minimum three years working with hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and composite skills, or 2 years wind industry experience plus a wind technician certificate.
  • Internal candidate training/certificate requirements: LOTO II, D-Service, TBC Core 100 & 200, Turbine specific 100 & 200.
  • External candidates must complete required training within 6 months.
  • Intermediate knowledge of safety practices (e.g., Confined Space, Lock Out Tag Out).
  • Understanding of electrical, hydraulic, mechanical systems and related tooling; capable of training others.
  • Valid driver's license; passport preferred.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours.
  • Ability to interpret drawings and schematics.

Competencies Required
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders up to 125 meters in height.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Physical ability to walk, stand, balance, stoop, twist, kneel, and bend.
  • Manual dexterity for repetitive tasks with tools and turbine parts.
  • Work in demanding weather conditions.
  • Comfort working remotely in turbines as part of a team.
  • Total weight with PPE not exceeding 300 lbs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software.
  • Reliable attendance.
