Job Summary

Under close supervision, responsibilities of the Technician I may include assembly, forming, finishing, material removal, inspection, rework, and repair of assembly components and parts, per customer specifications. Maintenance of machine tools, hydraulic systems, CNC equipment, vacuum, and electrical systems on equipment throughout the company. Includes operation of machines, hand and power tools, gauges, and measuring instruments, fabrication of temporary tooling, tooling maintenance, and first-level maintenance.

This is a WEEKEND NIGHT SHIFT: Friday-Sunday 4:00 PM - 4:00 AM

Job Responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate patterns. Determine method to remove material to meet customer specifications. Remove material by tank media.
  • Prepare parts for the tank by painting, patching, and removing all required maskant for etch. Use X-Acto knife and scale to hand lay out patterns.
  • Drill, assemble rivets and brackets on segments and rings, trim, and perform paint touch-up.
  • Deburr and form parts using expanders, hot dye presses, and rolls.
  • Mask parts as required by applying tape to holes, masking first cut parts, and strip boards.
  • Strip flanges with knife, load parts using crane, and run laser programs.
  • Maintain records related to periodic maintenance and order spare/replacement parts as needed.
  • Maintain a clean work environment, including assigned storage and cleaning duties, in full compliance with company standards, customer, and government regulations.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a business culture supporting the company's overall objectives, including issues related to cost, quality, process, schedule, and people.
  • Ensure the company's commitment to maintaining a safe workplace and protecting the environment by adhering to company policies and government regulations.
  • Comply fully with the "GKN Aerospace, Inc. Policy Statement on Contracting with the United States Government" in all responsibilities involving direct and indirect contracting with the U.S. Government.
  • Perform other duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1 year of experience using hand tools and measuring tools
  • 1 year of experience reading blueprints, schematics, and diagrams
  • Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder due to program security clearance requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • GKN Experience
  • Experience working with hazardous materials and/or chemicals
  • The ability to work as a team player as well as independently
  • Knowledge and experience in troubleshooting or safety, quality, and technical issues with co-workers, quality, and engineering functions
  • Willingness to work in a repetitive production environment with concern for meeting cost, quality, and schedule requirements
