An opportunity has arisen within Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability for a Technician to join our Scientific Services team on a permanent basis.
NRS brings together a diverse range of Glasgow City Council operational, technical and development services that focus on sustainable transport, place making and delivering essential city services.

Position Details
You will be required to analyse a wide variety of samples within the testing laboratories. An understanding of the fundamentals of analytical chemistry and experience of working within a chemistry/ microbiology laboratory is essential.
You must be familiar with good laboratory practices and have previous experience of routine analysis. You should preferably be familiar with LIM systems and laboratory quality systems.
You must have a flexible approach to work together with good communication skills, IT skills and a good standard of manual dexterity. The ability to work on your own initiative and establish good relationships with other team members is essential and you must be capable of responding effectively to delegated responsibilities and working with minimum supervision.
A minimum of a City & Guilds/ONC/SCOTVEC or equivalent qualification is essential to the role, as is a current driving licence due to the requirement for the successful applicant to be able to travel to and work on site at various locations throughout Scotland. P401 - Identification of Asbestos in Bulk Materials is desirable.
The successful candidate would be expected to continue to expand their knowledge and show an aptitude in acquiring new skills.

Contract Details
Weekly Hours: 35 hours
Work Pattern: Monday - Friday
Annual Salary: £26,584.54 - £28,609.93 on an incremental scale
