Job description

Description

To facilitate the learning process by supporting staff and students in an effective learning environment. Deliver technical assistance for both internal and external use of all Games and Esports classrooms, workshops, and studios. Support the growth and quality of the Esports and Games provisions and client engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct support to teaching staff by maintaining and promoting a lively working environment and practices.
  • Ensure staff and students have access to classrooms, workshops, studios, and equipment as required.
  • Liaise proactively with the IT Services team to address technical issues and facilitate smooth events and competitions.
  • Transfer and organise evidence for assessment.
  • Prepare and assist in activities, ensuring materials and equipment are ready for practical sessions and stored afterwards.
  • Assist in group activities, supervise use of specialist equipment, and set up prior to sessions/competitions.
  • Manage bookings for the Esports arena and Games Studio.
  • Participate in out-of-hours activities as reasonably requested by management.
  • Ensure the security of equipment on and off college premises.
  • Record, edit audio/video files, and create content for social media and marketing.
  • Supervise students on project work, competitions, research visits, and enrichment activities.
  • Explore innovative workflows, support staff with upskilling, and implement new software/hardware into the curriculum.
  • Support department needs and cross-college tasks flexibly.
  • Manage requisitions, storekeeping, licenses, and updates.
  • Oversee the Discord server, Twitch, and Teams channels for competitions.
  • Manage console accounts and client engagement, networking for work experience opportunities.
  • Perform other similar duties as required.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
Qualifications

Essential: GCSE English & Math’s

Desirable: Degree in a related subject within Games and Esports; background/knowledge of Games and Esports.

Experience

Essential: Minimum of 3 years in a related industry, relevant experience in hosting/participating in online gaming/events.

Desirable: Experience in a generalist IT Support 1st/2nd line role.

Specialist Knowledge

Essential: Technical knowledge within the study programme area, software skills in Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects, OBS, Unreal Engine, Blender, Substance Suite, and other Games and Esports software; basic Microsoft Word and Excel skills; willingness to undertake training; audio/video recording and editing skills.
