Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technician to join our Engineering Team at Leicestershire County Council. You will report into Senior Technicians and assist them to support the design and delivery of Highway construction schemes and maintenance works within time and cost targets. Responsibilities and Requirements
  • NVQ3 or equivalent in Civil Engineering or other relevant subjects. A-Levels Grades A-C in Maths and English
  • OR demonstrable evidence of the skills and experience as outlined in the job specification, together with a commitment to attain the essential qualifications.
  • Experience of working in an engineering setting, including design, management, maintenance or administrative processes in relation to highways infrastructure.
  • It would be ideal, but not essential, if you have experience of working in a commercial environment and delivering projects and programmes to time, quality and cost.
  • Experience of liaising with customers and clients using a variety of methods including attending and producing materials for meetings and exhibitions and of problem investigation and assessment.
  • Experience of accurately capturing, storing and retrieving information to meet customer and organisational needs.
  • Experience of interpreting and writing technical and non-technical reports and providing technical advice or drawings and to interpret maps, plans and engineering drawings.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills. Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work and good IT skills, including the ability to learn the use of service specific systems and software.
  • You must also have an understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity and inclusion.

Leicestershire County Council is the local highway authority for the county, responsible for maintaining 2,575 miles of roads.
