Job description

About the Role

We are seeking a Technician to join our Engineering Department.

The School of Engineering prepares the next generation of engineers with passionate experts developing students' practical skills. We focus on various aspects of each specialization, health and safety knowledge, as well as engineering principles, giving our students an advantage over competitors.

Our engineering department facilities include mechanical engineering, electronic engineering, and fabrication and welding.

What You Will Do
  1. Oversee the technical aspects of milling, turning, CNC, welding booths, cutting, and fabrication.
  2. Produce and organize materials to facilitate classes.
  3. Maintain health and safety standards in the area.
  4. Manage orders, stock, and risk assessments.
  5. Regularly check machinery and tools, and oversee servicing contracts.
  6. Research optimal suppliers and machinery upgrades.
  7. Control stock levels.
  8. Ensure workshop areas are clean and meet health and safety standards.
  9. Liaise with the health and safety team for reviews and inspections.
  10. Support teaching staff in workshop delivery as needed.
About You
  • You should be enthusiastic and eager to develop the next generation of engineers.
  • Having some IT skills and basic current engineering knowledge is advantageous.
  • Willingness to upskill and contribute to the development of the workshop for the benefit of learners.
  • Experience engaging with students in a learning environment.
