Job description

The successful applicant will contribute to the provision of a comprehensive EMC testing service to a wide range of industry sectors, taking ownership of the setup and completion of EMC test projects and the accurate delivery of results to customers. The candidate will also contribute to and often initiate efficiency improvements, many involving management, manipulation, and presentation of electronic test data for reports.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Perform EMC testing in both screened enclosure and in-situ environments.
2. Maintain electronic logbooks and collate data.
3. Develop test plans (where required) and write reports.
4. Develop and evaluate test equipment and methods.
5. Create test procedures, including providing photos and calculating measurement uncertainty.
6. Assist customers during the failure phase of their EMC test programs and provide general consultancy before job commencement.
7. Validate clients’ requirements, which may include site visits.
8. Support the sales team by providing information for quote generation.
9. Develop expertise in a specific testing area, such as rail, marine, or radio EMC requirements.
10. Provide training to engineers in the specialist area.
11. Participate in Continuous Improvement projects.

Minimum Requirements:

• An Electrical/Electronic Engineering qualification or recent practical experience in electrical/electronic engineering.
• A self-driven, enthusiastic attitude with a focus on high-quality work.
• Motivation to learn and develop technical skills.
• Ability to manage testing and reporting concurrently.
• Strong communication skills for dealing with customers at all levels, both written and verbal.
• Flexibility to work offsite or in shift patterns as required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and bespoke test systems.
• Full driving license and own vehicle for offsite testing and shift work.
• Experience as an EMC Test Engineer in a test house environment.
• Knowledge of the EMC Directive and/or relevant EMC standards.
• Experience managing test projects from setup to report completion.
