Job description

Our team of EMC-focused Technicians and Engineers deliver comprehensive EMC testing services for new and innovative technology and devices across various industries. The Technician will take ownership of setting up and completing EMC test projects and accurately delivering results to customers.

TUV SUD will provide the successful candidate with all necessary training to perform this role. This is an excellent opportunity to join a globally respected organization, develop your technical skills, and build a career in engineering.

Initial training will be conducted on a Monday-Friday shift pattern, 37 hours per week, from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, before transitioning to shift rotation. The successful candidate will rotate every two weeks between the following shifts:

  • Shift 1: Monday to Thursday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (including a 1-hour lunch), and Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm (including a 1-hour lunch)
  • Shift 2: Monday to Thursday, 4:00 pm - 12:30 am (including a 1-hour break), and Friday, 4:00 pm - 12:00 am (including a 1-hour break)

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with customers, Engineers, and Project Managers to conduct EMC testing in both screened enclosure and in-situ environments.
  • Support customers before and during test programs, especially in communicating issues during failure phases.
  • Maintain data and electronic logbooks for testing.
  • Generate test procedures, including photographs and measurement uncertainty calculations.
  • Develop test plans as needed and produce test reports.
  • Contribute to the development and evaluation of test equipment and methods.
  • Assist in validating client requirements, which may involve site visits.
  • Support the sales team by providing technical information for quote generation.
  • Specialize in a specific testing area, such as rail, marine, or radio EMC requirements.
  • Provide training to engineers in your specialist area.

Essential Criteria at Technician Level:

  • Self-motivated with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn and develop technical skills.
  • Willing to work overtime and shifts as required.
  • Proficient in IT, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and bespoke test systems.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in electronics-based engineering roles.
  • Comfortable engaging with customers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
