Qualifications

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technician (Shift Electrician) at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust to join our busy Estates & Facilities Management Team.

Role Overview

The day technician is employed to work across both engineering disciplines. They will have been trained beyond their core skill, acquiring elements of both Electrical and Mechanical skills. This flexibility enables them to perform a variety of duties, including general maintenance and installation on complex systems that form part of the site's infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Carry out specialist installations and repairs on power, lighting, nurse call, fire alarms, and intruder alarms, including programming and passing operational instructions to ward or department staff.
  2. Activate power changeover plant and safely isolate from generators or the local network during malfunctions.
  3. Work on inverter drives and soft start systems.
  4. Operate safely on standby electrical systems such as 400V generators and UPS systems.
  5. Work on Door Access and Security Tagging systems across the Trust site.
  6. Design and execute electrical installation work as needed, diagnosing and repairing faults according to BS7671 (IEE Wiring Regulations).
