Job description

About the role

As one of our Technician Specialists, you'll have the unique opportunity of bringing our distinctive John Lewis service right to our customers' doors and install the products they love into their homes (such as furniture, kitchen appliances, sound systems, and TV sets) as part of a 2-person delivery crew.

You'll also share your expertise to coach and develop the other delivery drivers in your team on home installations and customer service skills, acting as a role model for the great service John Lewis is known for. Due to the nature of the role, you need to be 18 years or older.

Key Responsibilities

Your day will start at the delivery hub before heading out on route. Responsibilities include:

  1. Being an ambassador for the John Lewis brand with great customer service as your top priority.
  2. Coaching, developing, and assessing your delivery driver colleagues to perform at their best.
  3. Helping load your lorry with the day's deliveries alongside the warehouse team.
  4. Respecting the customer's home and handling unexpected situations to find the best solutions.
  5. Installing products efficiently and demonstrating their use to customers.
  6. Staying updated with new products and technologies.
  7. Maintaining a safe working environment.

Essential skills/experience

Previous installation experience is required, and we will support your development with our installer accreditation. Other requirements include:

  • Manual C1 UK driving license (max 6 points).
  • DCPC and Tachograph Card.
  • Experience driving a 7.5-tonne vehicle.
  • Experience in a customer-facing role.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Physical ability to handle large items.
  • Good understanding of technology.
