Job summary

Freightliner Ltd in Southampton is seeking an skilled Engineering Technician A to join the Locomotive department. You will maintain, service, fault find and repair diesel locomotives in a safety-critical environment, working to established maintenance plans.

You will need an Lv3 engineering qualification and apprenticeship or time served, with experience in electrical and/or mechanical maintenance. A flexible approach to shift patterns is essential in a 24/7 depot.

Qualifications

• Apprentice trained or time served in railway or engineering environment.
• Experience in electrical and/or mechanical maintenance activities.
• Knowledge of rolling stock would be advantageous.
• Commitment to safe working practices.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to health & safety and local safety policy requirements, and other safety and technical standards.
• Maintain, service, fault find and repair locomotives in accordance with approved maintenance plans.
• Ensure accurate and comprehensive recording of maintenance and defect/repair information are kept up to date in accordance with legislative requirements and company instructions.
• Maintaining high standards of housekeeping to ensure a clean and safe environment

A vacancy has arisen for an Engineering Technician, Grade A within our Locomotive department in Southampton.

Reporting to the SMMD Production Manager this role involves working on the company's fleet of Diesel Locomotives within a safety critical environment.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to health & safety and local safety policy requirements, and other safety and technical standards.
• Ensure Freightliner company engineering standards and procedures are applied and followed.
• Maintain, service, fault find and repair locomotives in accordance with approved maintenance plans.
• Ensure accurate and comprehensive recording of maintenance and defect/repair information are kept up to date in accordance with legislative requirements and company instructions.
• Maintaining high standards of housekeeping to ensure a clean and safe environment

Requirements

• Commitment to safe working practices

• Must hold relevant Engineering qualification at Lv3
