Overview

This role will sit in the Underwriting Operations Team and is based in London. The purpose of the role is to contribute to the success of the Direct Underwriting Department by providing a support based contribution to all Underwriting Teams. This will be a 12 month fixed term contract.

General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preparation, distribution and mailing of Certificates/Endorsements emanating from business produced under Bell & Clements In-House Facilities, helping to ensure Contract Certainty is achieved.
  • Processing of relevant accounting information on individual risks on to Bell & Clements insurance/ Munich Re systems.
  • Maintenance of records on internal document management and workflow monitoring systems (e.g., Imageright/Brokers Risk Analysis).
  • Maintenance/updating of Agents’ Surplus Lines Licence details.
  • Processing under the PolicyFly system.
  • Processing of robotics exceptions as and when required
  • Correction of temp table validation errors and when required
  • Logging of quotes for the underwriting teams
  • Preparation of renewals for the underwriting teams
  • Assist with resolving accounting/bordereau queries relating to entries processed under In-House Facilities.
  • Liaison with Clients and Underwriters in respect of Certificate/Endorsement production.
  • Assisting with the training of other Technicians within the Underwriting Operations Team.
  • To learn and assist in all other areas of the Direct Underwriting Department
  • Attendance at regular Underwriting Operations Team meetings and wider departmental meetings as and when required.
  • Other ad-hoc duties within the wider In-House Underwriting Department as required.
  • Awareness of FCA, Lloyd’s and other overseas regulatory rules, including Data Protection, Financial Crime, (Sanctions, AML, Bribery/Corruption), and US Surplus Lines regulations, as they relate to this role.
  • Awareness of TCF and Contract Certainty regulations and Conduct Risk.
  • To embrace and actively implement the core principles of Continuous Conversations; (Commitments, Feedback and Development) as part of daily activities and with other colleagues;
  • Take ownership of and make personal and professional development a priority as part of Continuous Conversations;
  • In line with Continuous Conversations, establish and achieve development aspirations and needs through the setting of commitments and giving and receiving frequent, constructive feedback (referring to resources provided for support);
  • To abide by the policies and procedures of B&C.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Good standard of literacy, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Flexibility and ability to meet deadlines.
  • MS Office skills essential, knowledge of insurance/broking systems desirable.
  • General office experience and/or specific exposure to the insurance industry would be an advantage.

This position is offered on a Permanent basis. Annual salary will be dependent on the skills and experience of the successful candidate. Annual leave - 25 days per year (plus bank holidays), increases with length of service.
