Our client, a dynamic and innovative fintech company, is revolutionizing financial services through cutting-edge payment solutions. With a global presence and a mission to empower businesses with seamless, secure, and scalable financial products, they are seeking a highly technical Technical Card Product Manager to lead the development and optimization of their card issuing and acquiring offerings.
About the Role:
We are recruiting a technically proficient Product Manager to drive the development, implementation, and management of our client’s Card Issuing and Acquiring products. This role will focus on designing and delivering technically robust card payment solutions, ensuring seamless integration with payment systems, compliance with card scheme regulations, and collaboration with engineering teams to bring innovative products to market. You will play a critical role in shaping the technical architecture and product strategy of the card portfolio, working closely with card schemes (Visa, Mastercard, etc.), vendors, and internal stakeholders to drive growth in the EU, UK, APAC, and other key markets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and execute the technical product strategy and roadmap for card issuing and acquiring solutions, aligning with market trends and the company’s objectives.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance card payment systems, including EMV, tokenization, and API integrations.
- Lead the technical aspects of the product lifecycle, from defining system requirements and architecture to overseeing certification, testing, and deployment.
- Ensure seamless integration with card scheme infrastructure (Visa, Mastercard, etc.), payment processors, and third-party APIs for issuing and acquiring services.
- Work with Compliance teams to ensure adherence to card scheme regulations, FCA requirements, and technical standards (e.g., PCI-DSS, 3D Secure).
- Optimize card scheme invoice processing, settlement, and reconciliation systems to ensure cost efficiency and operational accuracy.
- Build and maintain technical relationships with card schemes, vendors, and technology partners to support product development and innovation.
- Conduct technical market research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities for innovation in card issuing and acquiring technologies.
- Develop detailed technical requirements, system specifications, and documentation (e.g., API guides, integration protocols) for engineering and operations teams.
- Collaborate with UX and product teams to ensure user-centric design aligns with technical capabilities for seamless card product experiences.
- Monitor product performance through technical KPIs (e.g., system uptime, transaction latency) and user feedback to optimize features and ensure market fit.
- Drive adoption of emerging payment technologies, such as contactless payments, softPOS, and real-time payment systems.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 5+ years of product management experience in card issuing, acquiring, or payment systems, with a strong technical focus.
- Deep technical understanding of card payment processing, EMV technology, tokenization, and card scheme infrastructure (Visa, Mastercard, etc.).
- Proven experience designing and implementing payment systems, including API integrations, settlement processes, and reconciliation workflows.
- Strong knowledge of technical regulatory requirements, such as PCI-DSS, KYC, AML, and 3D Secure, in the financial services industry.
- Proficiency in working with engineering teams to define system architecture, technical requirements, and integration protocols.
- Familiarity with modern payment technologies, such as APIs, blockchain, or real-time payment systems, is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills, with fluency in English and the ability to engage with technical teams, card schemes, and external stakeholders.
- Analytical mindset with experience in technical troubleshooting, performance optimization, and data-driven decision-making.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment and manage complex technical and product priorities.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field; advanced degree or MBA is a plus.
