Job summary

Summer-Browning Associates Ltd seeks a Technical Writer for a 12-month contract to support a Central Government client in London. Hybrid working arrangements apply.

The role requires delivering clear, accurate documentation across IT infrastructure, cloud services, networking, and enterprise IT, with a focus on precision, structure, and regulatory-friendly processes. You will collaborate with engineers, security teams, and project stakeholders to produce user guides, diagrams, and architecture

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent professional experience in technical communication or IT-related field.
• Proven experience as a Technical Writer in IT, infrastructure, cloud, engineering, or technology environments.
• Strong understanding of technical terminology related to infrastructure, cloud services, networking, and enterprise IT.
• Excellent written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to organize information logically and present complex technical concepts clearly.
• Experience managing multiple documentation deliverables across concurrent projects.
• Experience working within a secure, regulated environment - tier 2/tier 3 environments.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.

SBA are currently supporting our Central Government client, who are seeking a Technical Writer on an initial 12 month contract

Location: London (hybrid)

Essential:

• Degree in Technical Communication, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Proven experience as a Technical Writer within an IT, infrastructure, cloud, engineering, or technology environment.
• Strong understanding of technical terminology relating to infrastructure, cloud services, networking, and enterprise IT.
• Excellent written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to organise information logically and present complex technical concepts clearly.
• Experience managing multiple documentation deliverables across concurrent projects.
• Experience working withing a secure, regulated environment - tier 2/tier 3 environments
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable:

• Experience using Confluence for technical documentation and knowledge management.
• Understanding of architecture documentation frameworks and governance processes.
• Familiarity with diagramming tools such as Visio
