Job summary

Travelers Europe is seeking an experienced Casualty underwriter to join the Underwriting Office as a Technical Underwriting Specialist. You will shape strategies, analyze portfolios with BI/Actuarial data, and own underwriting guides. Hybrid work, three days in-office, two remote. Ideal candidate has ACII or equivalent, strong analytics, and leadership abilities.

You will train underwriters, manage referrals, and support project work across Business Insurance portfolios.

Qualifications

• Degree education & ACII qualification.
• Typically has proven experience in underwriting, including identifying and developing new business opportunities.
• Good knowledge of the local insurance marketplace.
• Regulatory rules, policies and day-to-day application.
• Advanced technical underwriting knowledge and ability.
• Proven track record in Property or Casualty underwriting with advanced technical knowledge.
• Excellent communication and teamwork.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Advanced interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to lead projects and working groups.
• Leadership and influencing skills; ability to define goals and priorities.
• Self-directed; takes responsibility for decisions and actions.
• Microsoft Office proficiency: Excel (advanced) and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to underwriting strategy reflecting market conditions.
• Analyse portfolios using MI/BI data and multiple sources.
• Identify trends in performance and pricing with clear recommendations.
• Own underwriting guides, keep them up to date and train underwriters.
• Assist with analysis to explain portfolio changes and pricing strategy.
• Develop underwriting guidance with cross-functional teams.
• Monitor regulatory environments and provide recommendations.
• Prepare reports for reviews and oversee policy wordings development.
• Review training needs and deliver training to underwriters.
