Job summary

Loughborough University is seeking a Technical Tutor for Printed Textiles on a maternity cover, within the School of Design and Creative Arts. The role involves supporting teaching delivery in a multidisciplinary technical team, focusing on print workshop activities and practical demonstrations.

The post requires experience in teaching and an ability to communicate complex textile printing techniques to students, with flexibility for a part-time arrangement and a fixed-term contract of up to 12

Qualifications

  • Experience of providing teaching and learning support to students.
  • Demonstrable skills in printmaking, textile dyeing and printing techniques.
  • Experience working with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to communicate specialist knowledge in printmaking, textiles dyeing and printing to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and lead own workload and projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support teaching delivery within Creative Arts to cover maternity leave.
  • Work with the Textiles Print team to deliver practical teaching in the print workshop.
  • Assist with workshop supervision, health and safety, and equipment use.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across the School and beyond.
  • Communicate specialist knowledge clearly to a range of audiences.

We have an exciting opportunity to support teaching delivery within Creative Arts in the School of Design and Creative Arts to cover maternity leave. Creative Arts is multidisciplinary and this is an excitingoptionto be part a large technical team delivering specialised teaching.

This role would be within the Textiles Print team supporting specialised practical teaching within the print workshop and working closely with Technical Tutors from across theSchool.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience of providing teaching and learning support to students, for example theoretical teaching and practical demonstrations & instruction.
  • Demonstrable skills in the techniques, technologies, processes, and applications associated withprintmakingandtextile dyingand print.
  • Experience of working effectively and collegiately with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability and passion for communicating specialist knowledge and complex information in an effective and engaging way to a range of audiences, specificallyin the area ofprintmaking, textiles dying and printing.
  • Ability to work independently, apply your own initiative, be self-motivated and lead own workload,projectsand teams.
