Job summary

MAGMAS is seeking an experienced Technical Systems Engineer to join its high-tech managed IT services team in London. You will work across client sites, handling technical support, infrastructure maintenance and hands-on installations while taking ownership of issues through to resolution.

Candidates should have at least 5 years in IT, strong skills in Cyber Essentials, GDPR, Microsoft 365, Intune, Azure, Windows servers and networking, plus excellent communication and customer service.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years' experience in a relevant IT role.
• Strong knowledge of Cyber Essentials and GDPR security standards.
• Proficient with Microsoft 365 apps and cloud services (Email, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive).
• Experience with Intune, RMM platforms and telephone systems.
• Expertise in network infrastructure (routers, switches, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, firewalls, VLANs).
• Familiarity with Azure administration.
• Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 and client OSs (Windows 10/11, macOS).
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot independently and work well in a team.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical contact for customers and provide effective solutions to their IT requirements.
• Attend customer premises to diagnose faults, complete repairs and perform scheduled maintenance.
• Manage support cases and service requests using the company's Service Desk platform.
• Keep customers informed throughout the support process in line with service levels.
• Escalate significant incidents requiring Management intervention.
• Review daily priorities and manage workload to complete actions.
• Monitor the condition and performance of customer environments to meet business needs.
• Carry out installation, configuration, testing, maintenance and repair of hardware and software.
• Keep technical records, tickets and documentation up to date.
• Take ownership of urgent incidents, whether remote or on-site.

This is a varied, customer-focused position involving technical support, infrastructure, system maintenance and hands-on work at client locations. The successful candidate will be comfortable working across multiple technologies and taking ownership of issues through to resolution.

The Role

• Serve as a technical contact for customers and provide effective solutions to their IT requirements.
• Attend customer premises when required to diagnose faults, complete repairs and carry out scheduled maintenance.
• Manage support cases and service requests using the company's Service Desk platform.
• Keep customers informed throughout the support process in accordance with agreed service levels.

• Review daily priorities and manage your workload to ensure required actions are completed.

On Offer

• Salary of £30,000 - £40,000 per year, dependent on experience.
• 40 days' annual paid holiday.

Applicants should have at least 5 years' experience in a relevant IT role and be confident working with:

• Cyber Essentials and GDPR security standards, including implementation and configuration (mandatory).
• Microsoft 365 applications and cloud services, particularly Email, SharePoint, Teams and OneDrive (mandatory).
• Intune, Remote Monitoring and Management platforms and telephone systems.
• Network infrastructure including routers, switches, access points, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, firewalls and VLANs.
• External technology partners and service providers, with the ability to coordinate support where required.
• IT industry standards, processes and best-practice procedures.
• Windows Server 2016, 2019 and 2022, including Group Policy and security configuration.
• Azure administration and implementation.
• Windows 10, Windows 11 and Mac environments.
• Different customer builds, imaging and deployment requirements.
• Strong customer service skills together with clear written and verbal communication.
• Independent technical troubleshooting and problem-solving.
• Working effectively within a team while being capable of managing tasks independently.
