Job summary

UKTC, part of the SOCOTEC UK & Ireland group, is expanding its certification team to support fire resistance testing operations. As Technical Surveyor, you will witness specimen installations, verify dimensions, materials and construction methods, and produce detailed CAD drawings and component schedules for fire test reports.

Job Description

As a Technical Surveyor at UKTC, you will play a crucial role in our fire resistance testing operations. You will witness specimen installations to verify their dimensions, materials, and construction methods, producing detailed ‘as built’ CAD drawings and component schedules that form part of subsequent fire test reports.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review clients’ drawings and bill of materials prior to installation to ensure sufficient information for conducting surveys
• Liaise with Technical Officers and clients to obtain and clarify information and drawings
• Conduct accurate surveys of specimens, recording details and verifying them against client‑provided information through measurements and photographs
• Produce elevation and section drawings, component schedules, and written descriptions of test specimens
• Utilise AutoCAD LT, Microsoft Office, and internal systems
• Provide training to colleagues in surveying roles when required

Qualifications

• Experienced and confident using AutoCAD LT
• Experience in a similar role, ideally within construction or civil engineering
• Proficient in working with technical drawings
• Good general education including English and Maths
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Understanding and commitment to health and safety
• Highly organised with ability to work to tight deadlines
• Demonstrates consistently high‑quality work
• Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office
• HND in engineering/CAD drawing, scientific discipline, or equivalent
• Knowledge of construction process technical aspects and specific risks involved
