Technical Surveyor - Social Housing (Repairs & Adaptations)

Location: South East London

Rate: £25 PAYE / £32 Umbrella

Contract Type: Temporary

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Technical Surveyor to join a local authority housing team in the South East on a temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in repairs and property adaptations to take ownership of technical inspections, case management, and contractor oversight.

The successful candidate will work across a varied housing portfolio, ensuring homes are maintained to high standards while delivering vital adaptation works to meet residents\' needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out inspections of social housing properties to diagnose defects and specify appropriate repairs
  • Assess, design, and oversee adaptation works including disabled facilities and specialist modifications
  • Prepare detailed schedules of work, specifications, and technical reports
  • Supervise contractors and operatives, ensuring works are delivered on time, to budget, and in line with compliance standards
  • Provide technical advice on building pathology, repairs, and adaptations
  • Liaise with residents, contractors, and key stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and customer satisfaction
  • Ensure all works comply with housing legislation, building regulations, and health & safety requirements
  • Support the delivery of both responsive repairs and planned adaptation projects
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Technical Surveyor within social housing - essential
  • Strong track record in repairs and adaptations projects
  • Excellent knowledge of housing condition, building pathology, and property compliance
  • Experience producing schedules of work and managing contractors
  • Strong reporting, organisational, and communication skills
  • Full UK driving licence preferred
