Description of role:

The Technical Support Specialist will play a key role in the support of customers using Yourgene Health Products. The Technical Support Specialist will assist with the installation and training of customers for our IONA test and workflow. The training of users will be primarily at the training facility in Manchester and potentially at the customer's laboratory. This role will provide product support through troubleshooting and fault investigation for Yourgene Health laboratory workflows.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Provide product support via email, telephone and customer visits
  • Ensure customer complaints and enquiries are dealt with in a timely and professional manner
  • Provide customer training at the Manchester training facility and at the customer site
  • Carry out performance qualification testing on the equipment used for Yourgene Health laboratory workflows
  • Provide fault investigation
  • General lab maintenance and upkeep
  • Working to regulatory and quality requirements

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:

  • Degree or further degree (or equivalent) in a life science such as molecular biology, biochemistry or genetics
  • Previous experience as a technical support specialist or similar role.
  • Proficiency in operating manual or automated lab equipment (including the use of pipettes or robotic liquid handling systems)
  • Hands-on experience of nucleic acid quantification instrumentation
  • Enthusiasm, drive, thoroughness, diligence and a willingness to take personal responsibility to ensure that timelines are successful
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, a collaborative attitude, and the ability to work well under pressure
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office suite
  • Willingness to work flexible working hours
