Technical Support Officer Roads and Waste (2) (Fixed Term)

Dumfries/Stewartry

£30,297 - £31,818

£32,475 - £34,632

Duties will include: -

Route Risk Assessments for all Waste Collection Operations.

Waste Prevention strategies and data analysis.

Enforcement of Recycling bin Contamination policies.

Waste Education and Outreach programs across the region.

Support implementation of the Councils Waste Strategy.

We are keen to share an exciting opportunity to join Dumfries & Galloway Council's Waste Services team as a Technical Support Officer, this role is on a fixed term basis for a 12-Months period.

We deliver a variety of frontline Waste Collection Services, and we are looking to recruit two additional members of staff to assist in completing ongoing projects within required time frames.

You will be expected to carry out various tasks as instructed by the Waste Service management team; the role will predominantly be focussed on the tasks outlined above, but this list is not exhaustive.

Ideally candidates should be able to evidence some of the points in the list below.

  • Previous experience in Waste & Recycling, logistics or a related technical field.
  • Working knowledge of Health & Safety requirements, IOSHH qualification would be beneficial.
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication and engagement abilities.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Class C driving Licence.
  • GIS or route planning experience.
  • Experience in Community Engagement or public education.
  • Educated to SCQF level 6/7 (SVQ 3) or equivalent, or able to show extensive operational experience in a relative discipline.

Standard Driving Licence is essential
