Job Description: Technical Support Engineer

Help build and keep the nation's critical infrastructure connected and protected 24/7.

What you’ll do:

  • Configure and replace datacentre equipment such as Cisco and Juniper firewalls, Cisco switches, Cisco and Dell server hosts while maintaining system operation.
  • Provide both on-site and on-call support for TPCMS, with the ability to travel throughout the UK.
  • Proactively monitor the availability, performance, and security of TPCMS as part of a 24x7 team.
  • Address TPCMS issues either by resolving them or by assigning them to internal staff or external providers for resolution.
  • Engage with the System Management Team to support continuous improvement for TPCMS and customer service.
  • Ensure all Service Level Agreement targets are exceeded.
  • Support the transition of the TPCMS service to other parties by aiding in development and training.

Who you are:

This role is ideal for an organized, proactive, and diligent 1st Line Support Engineer. It offers a great opportunity for growth in IT support. The role suits someone who enjoys problem-solving, thrives in a team environment, and is adaptable to a fast-paced, 12-hour shift rotation. Strong communication skills are essential, and a desire to develop technical skills is valued.

Key Requirements:

  • Vendor certifications in VMware, MS Windows System Support, Cisco LAN/WAN, Juniper, IP Trade are beneficial.
  • Knowledge of McAfee SIEM Security (Security Information and Event Management).
  • Further education in IT/ICT.
