Do you take pride in:- Problem-Solving: Tackling technical queries and finding solutions to ensure our fleet is always ready to roll. Investigating safety issues and incidents and helping keep everything on schedule.
- Teamwork: Working closely with depot production teams, contractors, and engineers to ensure seamless operations. Your collaborative spirit will help keep our trains on track!
- Technical Expertise: Using your deep knowledge of Northern's rail vehicles to provide top-tier support and technical insights. From warranty issues to component checks, you'll play a key role in keeping us moving.
- Safety First: Ensuring that all technical issues are resolved with the highest safety standards in mind, so that everything stays on time and on point.
- Adaptability: Whether it's a routine check or an urgent repair, your flexibility and quick thinking will keep our fleet in tip-top condition, no matter what challenges arise.
Are you:- Technically Skilled? With engineering qualifications to NVQ level 3 in Engineering and experience with rail vehicles, you're well-prepared for this role.
- Supportive? You'll play a key role in supporting the Fleet Engineer and the wider teams, to ensure the TrainCare Centre (TCC) operates smoothly, maintaining fleet safety and reliability.
- Analytical and Organised? You have a sharp mind for diagnosing issues and a methodical approach to solving them.
- A Strong Communicator? You can confidently work with colleagues, contractors, and engineers to provide technical support and guidance.
- Flexible? You're ready to travel between depots when necessary, and you understand that a typical day can have a few unexpected challenges.
Please note this role is safety critical and is subject to Rail Safety & Standards Board (RSSB) regulations. You MUST meet the following criteria for this position, or your application will be automatically rejected:
- Currently live within a 45-minute car journey from the station you work from.
- Be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.
- Pass the safety critical medical assessment, including drugs and alcohol screening.
- Not have defective colour vision.
