Job summary

Sky Sports is seeking a Technical Supervisor to join the Technical Management team, owning day-to-day technical production for gallery delivery and coordinating across Sky’s facilities, including remote and cloud productions. You will report to a Studios Technical Manager and work with studios craft teams across Sky’s innovative environments.

In this role you’ll set up galleries, configure equipment to broadcast standards, troubleshoot incidents, and maintain technical documentation.

Qualifications

• Up-to-date knowledge of broadcast technology, developments, and techniques, including Remote Production and HDR.
• Experience with broadcast standard equipment including camera and replay systems.
• Solid understanding of production technical areas including galleries and studios, working across remote production and cloud-based.
• Confident to work in studio and live production environments with calm under pressure.
• Strong communication and a commitment to continuous self-improvement.

Responsibilities

• Provide first-line technical support acting as the key point-of-contact for engineering incidents affecting gallery and production operations, liaising with Production teams and escalating as appropriate.
• Set-up galleries, studios and equipment. Ensure signal paths are aligned and configured to broadcast standards.
• Route internal and external sources, floor vision monitoring and in-vision monitoring, coordinating with OBs, remote productions and MCRs.
• Match signals, colour balance and video levels by eye to meet broadcast standards.
• Develop, contribute to, and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
• Travel to support OB technical rigs and operations as needed.

As a Technical Supervisor, you will provide on the day technical ownership of productions, ensuring client confidence across all aspects of gallery delivery. Reporting into a Studios Technical Manager, you’ll work closely with Studios craft teams across a broad range of Sky’s innovative facilities and systems, including remote and cloud productions.

What You’ll Do

• Provide first-line technical support acting as the key point-of-contact for engineering incidents affecting gallery and production operations, liaising directly with Production teams, and escalating as appropriate.
• Set-up galleries, studios and equipment. Ensure visually and by ear that signal paths are correctly aligned. Configure systems technically to broadcast standards.
• Route internal and external sources, floor vision monitoring and in-vision monitoring. Liaise with other technical areas, OBs, remote productions and MCRs to ensure our content goes to air correctly.
• Match signals, colour balance and video levels by eye using the appropriate interfaces, measuring devices, and monitoring, to ensure that broadcast standards are achieved.
• Develop, contribute to, and maintain appropriate comprehensive technical documentation.
• Possibility of travel to support OB technical rigs and operations.

Essential Criteria

• Up-to-date knowledge of broadcast technology, developments, and techniques, including Remote Production and HDR.
• Experience with broadcast standard equipment including camera and replay systems, ideally with good engineering skills.
• Solid understanding of production technical areas including galleries and studios, working across a range of systems including remote production and cloud-based.
• Confident to step into studio and live production environments, remaining positive, collaborative, and calm under pressure.
• Highly motivated with a strong work ethic, a commitment to continuous self-improvement, and excellent communication skills.
• Comprehension of IP and cloud-based workflows is beneficial.

How You’ll Work

This role follows a 77-hour fortnight working pattern, with an emphasis on on-site delivery to support live and fast-paced production needs. You’ll work closely with teams on location, ensuring seamless collaboration and high-quality output.
