We are currently looking for a Technical Data Analyst to join our team in the Cardiff office.

You will be expected to attend the office 50% of the working week, to align with our hybrid working policy.

THE TEAM

The North American Data and Development Team plays a central role in Creditsafe’s US data strategy, with team members based across the United States, Hyderabad, and Cardiff. The team is responsible for the end-to-end management of US data — from ingestion and validation to continuous improvement — ensuring we deliver accurate, high-quality information to power our products. With dedicated team leads and close oversight from senior leadership, the team supports Creditsafe’s ambition to become the top provider of business credit information within the US within the next five years.

JOB PROFILE

As a Technical Data Analyst you will play a key role in designing and implementing technical solutions that support our business objectives and long-term strategy. You’ll collaborate across teams to refine priorities, optimize processes, and develop automation that enhances efficiency. This role combines hands-on development and data analysis while working closely with our data engineering and analytics teams to ensure alignment with business needs.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Write Python scripts, optimize SQL queries, and build integrations with APIs to automate workflows and enhance data processing.
  • Investigate and resolve technical challenges across SQL, Oracle PL/SQL, AWS Athena, Redshift, and other cloud infrastructure to ensure data integrity and system efficiency.
  • Guide engineers and analysts by defining clear priorities, streamlining sprint planning, and ensuring effective backlog management.
  • Design and implement automation, scheduled jobs, and cloud-based solutions to improve operational efficiency.
  • Work closely with engineering, data, and business teams to ensure technical solutions align with strategic objectives.
  • Create clear technical documentation, maintain best practices, and contribute to technology roadmaps.

The responsibilities detailed above are not exhaustive and you may be requested to take on additional responsibilities deemed as reasonable by their direct line manager.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • SQL & Databases: Proven experience in SQL, including query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning. Strong working knowledge of Oracle PL/SQL, including stored procedures and packages.
  • Python Development: Hands-on coding experience with Python for automation, API integrations, and scripting.
  • AWS & Cloud Infrastructure: Familiarity with AWS services such as S3, Lambda, RDS, Redshift, and Athena.
  • API & System Integration: Experience building or consuming REST APIs and integrating systems efficiently.
  • Automation & Efficiency Mindset: Ability to streamline workflows using scripting, scheduled jobs, and smart automation.

Data Expertise

  • Experience querying, transforming, and analysing large datasets across multiple databases (Oracle, Redshift, AWS Athena).
  • Strong ability to investigate data inconsistencies, optimize queries, and build efficient data processing workflows.
  • Experience with ETL/ELT processes, integrating external data sources, third-party APIs, and automating data ingestion pipelines.
  • A data-driven mindset, ensuring solutions align with business objectives and support analytical capabilities.

Problem-Solving & Leadership

  • Self-Sufficient & Proactive: Able to take ownership of tasks, investigate technical challenges, and deliver solutions with minimal oversight.
  • Decision-Making & Prioritization: Experience refining and managing a product backlog, prioritizing tasks based on business needs.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Ability to align engineering and data teams, ensuring smooth execution and common goal achievement.
  • Communication & Stakeholder Management: Comfortable translating technical concepts for non-technical teams and senior leadership.

Bonus Skills (Not Required but Nice to Have!)

  • Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, or infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform).
  • Exposure to AI/ML-based automation or analytics tools.
  • Experience with data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar alternatives to create insightful dashboards and reports.
