Job summary

Ciena is seeking a technically skilled professional to manage optical lab assets, define customer-facing materials, and deliver product demonstrations and lab trials. You will capture issues, route feedback to R&D, and provide engineering guidance across global teams in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical consultation, solution evaluation, design support, and engineering guidance.
• Resolve complex or urgent field issues escalated from the Global Technical Support organization.

How You Will Make An Impact

The Must Haves

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Applied Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Good knowledge of telecommunications and optical transport systems with a good understanding of photonic and optical protocol.
• Organized and detail-oriented team collaboration skills.
• Excellent English communication skills, including verbal and written communication.
• Presentation of technical and non-technical information to varied audiences.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
• Ability to collaborate across multiple time zones and cultures.
• Reside in the United Kingdom and work extensively in a lab environment.

Nice To Haves

• Application of instrumentation, lab environments, and test methodologies.
• Lab experience with optical measurements, including optical spectrum analyzers (OSA).
• Application of coding technologies such as Python.
