We are currently recruiting for a Technical Setter to set and operate perforating and CNC presses to produce high quality perforated metal and plastic components.

Ideally, we are looking for a candidate who has experience of working within a modern manufacturing environment, with a strong track record for process improvement and technical solutions.

We are looking for a candidate who holds good analytical and organisational skills, including problem solving tools and techniques. Excellent communication skills are essential, as is the ability to influence all levels.

Experience of materials and sheet metal processing is advantageous, but the induction will include training on the company’s manufacturing processes.

This role gives you opportunity to play a major part in an autonomous manufacturing team.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • To set and operate CNC perforating presses.
  • To work on continuous improvement projects to drive productivity, quality, and process improvements.
  • Work as a key member within the engineering team to determine optimal production routes for products to optimise cost, achievable quality/tolerances and lead time and supply information to sales for quotation purposes.
  • To produce quality parts at output targets
  • To carry out checks in line with ISO 9001:2015 procedures
  • To support the engineering team in investigating production defects and contributing to the root cause and corrective action implementation to resolve production and product issues.
  • Ensure quality standards are met and high standards of housekeeping are maintained.
  • To drive a continual improvement culture within the team
  • Attend other meetings and generate ideas for improvements.
  • To work as part of team
  • Ensure the health, safety and welfare of self and others at all times.

Measurements:

  • Press running efficiency.
  • Scrap %
  • Sets to SMED %
  • Development in production capabilities
  • Manufacturing with a mechanical background
  • Numerate and literate
  • Able to read technical drawings
  • Able to use measuring equipment (micrometres/verniers)
  • PC literate
  • Experience of manufacturing best practice (SMED, 5S etc)
  • Experience of sheet metal processing and material properties (primarily steels)
  • Power press regulations certificate
  • Internal auditing to ISO9001:2015
