Job summary

Velocity Recruitment is seeking a Data Centre Technical Services Manager in London to lead day-to-day maintenance of mission critical facilities, coordinating HV electrical systems and service providers.

You will champion health and safety, ensure CERMTM and CEM Risk Management compliance, and mentor the engineering team to maximise uptime.

The role requires strong technical knowledge, leadership, and the ability to deliver concise technical reports and stakeholder updates.

Qualifications

• Definitive understanding of building services systems and contingency procedures.
• Proactive in passing knowledge through development of the engineering team.
• Familiar with CERMTM process and the client CEM Risk Management Framework.
• Oversee competencies of 3rd party specialists and engineering staff; train, coach and mentor.

Responsibilities

• Ensure CERMTM procedures and CEM Risk Management Framework are followed via SOPs, MOPs and EOPs.
• Operate all building systems competently, safely and efficiently, including HV isolations and operations.
• Appoint Senior Authorised Person for the Data Centre and manage HV AP appointments and development.
• Coordinate Specialist Subcontractor visits with SOP/MOP/PTW and client change requests.
• Ensure Specialist Subcontractor worksheets are signed off and work quality is inspected and reported.
• Provide technical support and own Incident Reports and After Incident Reviews.
• Lead technical development of the engineering team in collaboration with the client CEM to improve competency.
• Attend weekly operations and client meetings with the Account Manager.

Job Title - Technical Services Manager

Position Concept

As the post holder, you will be expected to have expertise in working within mission critical facilities such as complex Tier 3 or above Data Centres. A definitive understanding of building services systems, contingency procedures and be proactive in passing on this knowledge through development of the engineering team. The Data Centre Technical Services & Compliance Manager will also be expected to become familiar with aspects of the CERMTM process and the client CEM Risk Management Framework and all engineering operations within the clients London contract.

Working closely with the Engineering team the Data Centre Technical Manager role will be the technical lead for all day-to-day maintenance activities, including the Specialist Subcontractors, Suppliers and other support teams. The Data Centre Technical Services Manager will be appointed as the site SAP for HV Electrical Systems and work in partnership with the client Technical Services Manager ensuring the required standards are exceeded when operating critical infrastructure.

To ensure the highest engineering standards are achieved and always maintained by both 3rd party specialist and engineering staff alike. To oversee competencies of 3rd party specialist and engineering staff, train, coach and mentor the engineering team to ensure maximum critical infrastructure uptime.

Act as a champion for health and safety on the account and work with the local team, our vendors, and our client to maintain the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with CERMTM procedures and the client CEM Risk Management Framework, through the effective management of SOP, MOP and EOP.
• Operate all systems within the buildings in a competent, effective and efficient manner (including HV isolations/operations). Having due regard to business risk and energy use. Making recommendations for improvement and providing concise technical reports when required.
• Appointment as Senior Authorised Person for the Data Centre, taking ownership of the HV Authorised Person appointments, engineer development, associated tools and PPE.
• Working closely with the engineering team you should ensure that for Specialist Subcontractors visits have been prepared and approved Standard Operating Procedures/ MOP/PTW/ client change requests.
• Ensure that Specialist Subcontractor worksheets are signed off where necessary, that quality of work has been inspected and recommendations are communicated by the Site Personnel.
• To provide technical support to the engineering team and take ownership of Incident Reports and After Incident Reviews when required.
• Take a leading role in the technical development of all members of the engineering team. Working in partnership with the client CEM to drive improvements engineering competency.
• Attend weekly operations meetings, client meetings as requested, in conjunction with the Account Manager.
