Job description

Technical Sales Executive - Sensory [Beer, Cider, Spirits, RTDs]

Join to apply for the Technical Sales Executive - Sensory [Beer, Cider, Spirits, RTDs] role at Cara Technology Limited.

Are you a brewing professional with a love for flavour and a knack for talking shop?

We’re looking for someone who lives and breathes beer, understands sensory and quality control, and is ready to take that knowledge globally in a technical sales role with real impact.

Cara Technology, founded in 1995, is home to AROXA Certified Flavour Standards – the world’s leading tools for sensory training and performance monitoring. Our products are used by over 15,000 trained tasters globally across beer, cider, spirits, RTDs, and other drinks industries.

We help producers design, train, and improve their sensory panels, while supporting them with flavour standards, technical advice, and innovative software. Alongside this, we manage and supply production yeast cultures for iconic global beer brands.

What This Role Involves

You’ll be part of our global technical sales team, working with breweries, distilleries, and drinks producers to improve sensory quality and tasting panel performance. You’ll be selling products and services – but this is no standard sales job. Your technical knowledge will be front and centre as you support customers with practical advice, troubleshooting, and training.

You’ll be responsible for:
  1. Customer Support & Sensory Advice
    • Advising breweries on how to build or strengthen sensory programmes
    • Explaining best practices for identifying off-flavours and structuring tasting panels
    • Answering technical questions around sensory evaluation, panel performance, and flavour standard use
    • Providing remote and in-person follow-up support after training sessions
  2. Technical Sales & Business Development
    • Building strong relationships with brewers, distillers, and producers of RTDs and cider
    • Identifying opportunities for flavour standard and training sales
    • Responding to inbound enquiries and proactively generating leads
    • Representing AROXA at global conferences, beer competitions, and industry events
    • Collaborating with our internal team to refine sales strategies, proposals, and forecasts
  3. Training & Industry Engagement
    • Assisting with delivery of both virtual and in-person sensory training courses
    • Supporting panel assessments and communicating results to clients
    • Maintaining awareness of new developments in the beer and drinks industry
    • Being a visible ambassador for AROXA in the wider brewing community

We’re looking for someone who can blend technical expertise, industry credibility, and commercial drive.

You’ll likely come from a brewing, production, or sensory background — and you’ll be excited by the chance to work with clients across the globe.

You don’t need formal sales experience — but you do need to be someone who enjoys talking to people, solving problems, and turning conversations into long-term relationships.

You’ll need:
  1. Solid knowledge of brewing or fermentation processes (e.g., brewing science degree or relevant experience in a brewery)
  2. Understanding of quality control and sensory protocols – ideally including triangle tests, threshold detection, or panel training
  3. Experience using flavour standards or formal sensory tools (either on a tasting panel or in QC)
  4. Confidence presenting to clients, explaining technical concepts clearly and enthusiastically
  5. Strong organisational skills and ability to manage your own schedule and priorities
  6. Willingness to travel regularly (UK & international trips, events, and site visits)
  7. A high level of professionalism and self-motivation — this is a remote role, so you’ll need to be proactive, accountable, and confident working independently
