Job summary

Gooch & Housego PLC is seeking a Market Applications and Estimating Engineer in Ilminster to provide technical and pre-sales support across customer accounts. You will translate customer requirements into technical solutions while collaborating with Sales, Engineering, and Manufacturing.

The role combines technical consultancy with commercial awareness, offering opportunities to work with leading organisations in the global photonics market and travel up to 25% to G&H sites and customer

Qualifications

• Experience in technical design, project management and customer relationship management.
• Experience supporting bids, quotations, RFQs, or customer proposals.
• Commercial awareness and understanding of business decision-making processes.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholder groups.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and pre-sales support for customer accounts and RFQ responses.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions and sales responses.
• Act as primary technical contact for customer presentations, RFQs and feedback.
• Support pricing, lead times, and capacity planning with Product Management and Manufacturing.
• Contribute to product and market development through customer insight and competitive intelligence.
