Job summary

Travis Talent is partnering with a Sheffield-based manufacturer to recruit a Technical Sales Engineer. The role blends technical engineering knowledge with customer-facing commercial activity and offers a path from engineering/design into sales.

You will work with the Sales and Business Development teams, respond to enquiries, prepare quotations, and translate customer requirements into practical technical solutions.

Qualifications

• Sound understanding of engineering principles, drawings and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to interpret customer requirements and translate into practical, commercially viable solutions.
• Strong communication skills and confidence dealing with customers.
• Experience preparing quotations, interpreting specifications or supporting technical enquiries.
• Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple enquiries and priorities.
• Proactive, problem-solving approach with excellent attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Manage incoming technical enquiries, understand customer requirements and recommend suitable solutions.
• Prepare accurate and competitive quotations, ensuring enquiries are progressed efficiently.
• Produce, review and maintain technical drawings and specifications for customer requirements.
• Liaise with internal production, purchasing, quality and technical teams to ensure proposed solutions are achievable.
• Provide technical support to customers throughout the sales process and after delivery.
• Identify opportunities to improve product designs, reduce costs and increase efficiency.
• Maintain accurate customer records, technical documentation and quotation information.
• Develop positive working relationships with both new and existing customers.
