Job summary

Wynne Consulting is recruiting a Technical Sales Engineer for an office-based role in the UK. You will act as the interface between Sales, Engineering, Production and the customer to ensure tender designs and BOM allocations are technically compliant with client specifications.

You will gather and translate requirements, support cost analysis and tender negotiations, and build long-term customer relationships while mentoring colleagues on system software integration and training needs.

Responsibilities

TECHNICAL SALES ENGINEER - Ref: 7847

SITE BASED - UK BASED, COMPETITIVE SALARY & PACKAGE

Location: Office based but may require some national or moderate international travel.

Responsible to: Commercial / Project Delivery Manager

Responsible for: Working closely with the Commercial / Project Delivery Manager and Business Development Manager (AC) acting as the fulcrum and interface between Sales / Engineering / Production / Business Development and the customer, being Client, Contractor or Consultant. Ensuring that Designs including the Bill of Material allocations result in tenders and or quotes for all major LVAC Projects that are technically compliant to the customers' specification and commensurate with the Projects' technical and / or operational requirements.

Key responsibilities:

Tasks and Activities:

• Determine actual project technical and operational requirements from Clients'/ Contractors' / Consultants' specifications which may be incomplete or only at a high operational output level.
• Effectively communicate and disseminate potentially complex technical enquiries to Engineers, Designers and Sales / Quote Engineers to ensure that detailed, accurate, and complete designs and cost analysis can be produced to enable major quotations to be properly compiled and presented.
• To clarify any potential confusion and to correct any clear and obvious design or costing errors during the tender / pre-contract period.
• To respond effectively to technical questions both within the company and with the customer.
• Be able to support the Commercial / Project Delivery Manager & Business Development Manager in leading tender negotiations for major and / or complex projects with the customer and produce detailed reports for action when appropriate.
• Work closely with the AC Business Development Manager, responding to or advising leads, meeting requirements or opportunities which may come to light.
• Assist Operations (Procurement & Production) when / if required to clarify any doubts or confusion regarding specific component requirements.
• Provide mentoring and training to colleagues regarding system (e.g. Co-Map; Deep Sea) software integration and programming.
• Assist with the arrangement for the provision of internal product training, as may be required.
• Assist with the arrangement for the provision of customer training, as may be required.
• Develop long term customer relationships, built on trust and support.

General

• Closely support the Business Development Manager in developing and nurturing relationships with key Clients / Consultants & Contractors
• Take ownership of the input, maintenance and upkeep of the AC Funnel & Pipeline, including "Definite" wins.
• Encourage the development and mentoring of other Sales Engineers and personnel within the Business in general.
• Provide general support and assistance to the Commercial / Project Delivery Manager.
• Adhere to procedures relating to the proper use and care of equipment and materials for which the role has responsibility (laptop, mobile, etc.).

Any other duties commensurate with the skills and level of this position, as determined by the needs of the Commercial / Project Delivery Manager.

• A sound understanding of electrical engineering, particularly AC industrial switchgear, and electrical distribution to sub-circuits within commercial and industrial premises, processes, services and their application and services.
• Able to understand sometimes complex contractual requirements and regulations.
• Have a keen understanding of risk, and the mitigation of such risks.
• Hold and maintain a valid UK driver's licence.
• Agree to Drug & Alcohol Testing (as required by our company policy).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to make presentations to audiences from different backgrounds and levels in the organisation.
• Computer literate in the Microsoft office suite of software.
